What exactly do chipmunks eat in the city? My grandparents and I like feeding wild animals. We have a "pet" squirrel named Skisix and a "pet" chipmunk named Chipie. We were feeding Chipie earlier this morning, the usual peanuts we leave out for him and got cerious so we left out a potato chip, cinimin twists, pop corn and bird seed; just to see what he'd take. Then got wondering, what would he eat if we weren't feeding him. We live in the city, there isn't any peanut plants around here, so what would he eat? Looking for a way (non-lethal!) to keep chipmunks from eating all the bird food I put out? Sister in law just moved into a house, has a side patio that is shaded on 3 sides by several tall arbor vitae bushes, she has been putting bird seed in her feeders, and has been invaded by chipmunks. What can she do to keep them out of the bird food ? She is feeding seed mixes and suet . The chipmunks are eating it all.

Saved a chipmunk from a stray cat, help? I have this stray cat that has been staying around our house, we've fed it, pet it, and so on. Very friendly... but yesterday he was chasing a chipmunk (Possibly a baby, I'm not sure.) and got a hold of it, but it managed to get free on its own. But today, he found it again, and I managed to grab it from the cat with a towel. Right now I've got it in a small pet carrier until I can get something better. I don't know what to do now, I can't just throw it back outside. What do chipmunks eat, or what should I give to it? Right now I've got a towel down, half of a paper cup full of water, and another half of a paper cup full of bird seed. Also threw in a small piece of a cracker, and a carrot. Again, I don't know what they eat, so I just gave it whatever I thought it might like. Another thing, it appears that the cat tore its tail off, but only the skin and fur, there is still the bone left. Also, any diseases I should know about? If I have to handle it I've been using a towel (To move it into the cage, or to take it out), but is there any diseases that it can pass to my own pets? I've got a dog and two cats. They can't get to the chipmunk, but I don't know if there are diseases that can pass between the animals just from sniffing or getting near the cage.

When my strawberries were planted (last year), I noticed that my little friends (chipmunks) liked the taste of my strawberry's. Well anyway, I was looking in my garden the other day and I noticed that there were lots of holes in the leaves of my strawberry plants. I thought it was either the chipmunks or Japanese beetles, BUT if it was Japanese beetles, wouldn't they be feasting on my other plants too? So does that mean its the chipmunks? WHAT IS IT?!?!!? And is there a way to get rid of these pests? By the way, I live in northern Illinois and any advice to get the chipmunks out of my garden would also be very helpful :)

What was this animal I saw when walking to WalMart? It looked like a fat beaver, it was brown, but its tail wasn't a beavers tail, it was bigger than a chipmunk. It was eating honey suckles by the highway in a bush by a ditch. I live in Seymour, Indiana and I've never seen anything like this? Do you have any idea what it could be?

my dog ate a live chipmunk what do i do? she caught and engulfed a half alive chipmunk. i took her to the emergency vet when it happened. it was in her small intestines at the time of xrays. today she is eating chicken hamburger rice mush mixture with water mixed in it, she's not drinking. she has had no bm today. she is still acting groggy and sluggish. moving slow. no signs of distress. but appears uncomfortable. she should be able to pass this right? she is a 70 pound akita.

do deer eat meat if they are really hungry? ok today i was hiking in the woods in central new york. there was about 12 inches of snow on the ground and everything was frozen solid. i noticed alot of deer tracks, i also noticed that the deer were eating pine cones( alot of half eaten pine cones on the ground), this seemed unusual. anyways, i saw a blood spot on the ground in the snow, there were alot of deer tracks around it. i followed the tracks up the mountian to find a small intestinal track of a small animal it was about 4 inches in length presumably a rabbit, squirrel, chipmunk. so would a deer eat meat if it was really hungry, and if it wasn t a deer what could it be? does anybody know waht does hunt rabbits etc.....?
I think my cat is sick but I do not know if is serious. Can someone tell me? She was outside for the last 3 days straight. I do beleive she ate because we put food out so that she could eat and it was mostly gone, plus she eats birds and chipmunks all the time. how do i get a grown (i think) wild chipmunk to trust a human and drink water and eat.? okay i have a chipmunk (that's not a baby) that my dog attacked and now i think its in shock or something. and it wont drink what i gave it and wont eat what i gave it and it been here for 2 days still hanging on to life sooo what should i do is it too expensive to take to a vet? Raw feeding cats and effect on prey drive? I've done some research here on Answers and through the various links I've seen, and I am interested in switching my two kitties to a raw diet. For those who raw feed their cats, I'm curious as to whether you've noticed any change in your cats prey drive. Yes, my cats are indoor cats. However, they do sneak out once in a while to roll around in the sun and snack on grass. One cat however likes to hunt--mice, birds, chipmunks... :( and she happily eats what she catches unless I can get it away first. I'd much prefer a raw diet that I fix to give her the raw meat she craves rather than risk parasites and disease from wild critters. Again, I do my best to keep her inside and safe, and to keep the wildlife safe from her! But, I'm wondering if you all think that a raw diet would provide the nutrition she might be lacking. how to keep chipmunks/bunnies away from my strawberries? I planted strawberries in my veggie garden for the first time this year. they are doing quite well, but i cant actually harvest any of the fruit because some little critter keeps eating them. im thinking its either chipmunks, or bunnies, because thats what we have most around my yard. i have heard that cayenne pepper sprinkled around your plants, mothballs, and dryer sheets placed near your plants all work but is that true? which is best? what do YOU use? i just put out some dryer sheets, because thats what i had on hand. apparently the smell is supposed to keep them away or something. please help me! this is the first year i've had this problem with any of my plants, and im DESPERATE!!!!! also, i would prefer not to trap them because its just not humane. thank you :)
I love my cat but his "gifts" are too much? I have a 7 yr old male cat that we got from our local shelter 4 yrs ago that I just adore ..except for one thing.. Every morning he brings me something dead. This morning he came in with a chipmunk. He does not eat these things he just kills them and lays them at my feet. What is up with this ca?. I feed him great , he gets tuna and salmon and really anything he wants. I know cats will hunt but why bring them to me and how can I get him to stop? I will not keep this cat indoors, he goes in and out as he pleases. I would say is in in more than he is out , but he hates not being able to go outdoors.

How do i care for a baby chipmunk? We have found a baby chipmunk that we want to keep. I have no idea what they eat and what kind of habitat it will need. Can anyone help? we found it in the parking lot of the apartment complex. we looked around for the mother or others but saw nothing.
Fearful for 4 year old son...? My son is barely 4 years old, his father and I separated 3 years ago and in the past year or so he has had very very disturbing thoughts. He is very protective of his baby sister, and any other babies but yet, at the same time when the baby first came home he said he was going to chop her up because she was bad, I passed it off as jealousy and haven't had a reoccurance in the past 8 months Recently, he took a doll and pretended to chop the baby. He says he's scared of mice because they eat people, he says the chipmunks also eat people. He's having horrible dreams that involve mice eating parts of my body, and everyone close to him. He says the vampires are going to eat him, dogs are going to bite his fingers off... all of this seems a bit gorey for my likings to be in my 4 year old's head. I ask him where he gets these ideas, and he says it's from his father's household watching movies with him. When I question them, they say that they don't watch any movies like that with him. I definatly do not in my home! Tree house is on 24/7 even after he's sleeping! If I watch movies I watch them in my room on low volume, and mainly are romances. I don't know what to do with my poor little boy, he's getting to the point that he is fearful to sleep in his room and if I manage to convince him to sleep in his own room, he has to have his big light on.. heaven forbid one of his toys cast a shadow because he SCREAMS. Does anyone know what I can do to help him? I let him express his feelings about all this... but he really is a shut in child and only shows anger, hurt, love and fear. I didn't remarry, but I did have another child out of wedlock with another man, since the other man (my daughter's father) and I weren't getting along, these thoughts have gotten worst and worst. Stephen has never known his parents as "together", he was too young when we separated to realize what was even happening as he was only 1. His father, has never dated anyone since, and lives at home with his parents. His parents are the ones I'm questioning about this, as they are more there for him than his father is.

I have a strange problem with water retention. When I eat a big meal my body and face gets bloated and? swollen. This is destroying my social life. Let me explain: When I am dry (not retaining water) my face looks chiseled and handsome. But when I retain water, my face swells up like a chipmunk and loses its definition and attractiveness. When I am dry women are always smiling at me, saying "hello" and asking me for directions. When I get bloated, the reaction is completely different. You would think they are looking at a COMPLETELY different person. Suddenly, I become invisible to women of all ages. What were previously smiles, are now frowns. In short I get treated like a leftover- a second- class citizen. Have you ever heard of this problem (explaining this to people is like trying to explain to a person from the middle ages that the world is round)? I found a non-moving but ostensibly alive chipmunk in my driveway. What should I do? The chipmunk's breathing and there's no blood/visible wounds. However, he justs sits there. What should I do with the arrival of a homing pigeon in my barn? So somebody has to know about homing pigeons on here... hopefully! A pigeon arrived in my barn last week and was very upset which included him flying into windows trying to escape! I left all the doors open and even tried to help him get out of the barn which actually made it worse. Anyway I have now noticed that the pigeon has never left! He has a white band around his leg but there is no way i will be able to catch him! He has made friends with one of my horses and sits on the wall of his stall all the time. I thought if he realized he could go outside he wud fly away but at the moment he is taking a stroll outside and having a drink out of a puddle. He has clealy made himself comfortable which is fine but i am worried about him getting lonely, hungry and crapping everywhere... I have been feeding him... prob not the best idea... just some horse feed and he's eaten it... or the chipmunk... (another adopted friend) Anyway hopefully somebody can advise me on what to do! My chipmunks fat? I've been feeding him a mixture of kaytee forti-diet rat and mouse food, another brand of mouse food and hamster food and fresh veggies. Thats what I've been told to feed him but he looks like hes getting fat. he was a baby when i got him and hes grown alot but i dont think hes supposed to be fat. So do I cut back on his feed or how much am i supposed to feed him? i do skip a day or two out of the week so he can eat what hes hidden but do you know how much hes supposed to be getting?

chipmunk ate the stalk of my lily plant. Can I save it? A chipmunk dug a whole around my lily plant and ate the stalk and it broke off under the ground almost at the root. What type of rodent could this be that loves to eat bread? So about 2 months ago I discovered a hole outside at the corner of the house leading to under the house near the kitchen and I've seen what I think are chipmunks scurrying into that hole when we open the kitchen door to go outside.
