We have more bugs than usual in this state of florida during the summer so i plan on having someone come out next week but I need to know which one is better. I made an appt with Orkin already and it's really expensive and you have to sign up for 1 year but i'm hearing some not so good opinions about the company...anyone have any experiences with any company, please let me know?? Orkin pest control and pregnancy? I am 6 weeks pregnant and live in an apartment right now. Once a month Orkin comes and sprays the apartment for bugs and stuff. Is this safe while I am pregnant or should I tell them not to treat my apartment?
Safety of Orkin monthly pest control? I've had Orkin spray my home monthly for about 4 years now. It has helped control the bugs tremendously! However, I'm wondering if anyone knows if there are long-term health risks associated with these treatments? So far, we are all doing just fine..... Yes, but Orkin employees don't live in it 24/7, and they most likely weren't living in it as children. I'm not so much worried about dropping dead as I am about cancer or organophosphate toxicity.
How much does it cost for pest control? I have bees swarming around my mail box and I am wondering how much that would cost for Orkin Pest Control that is. If you don't know can you give me an estimate of how much it cost?
Problem with Orkin pest control? I live in a building with a cockroach infestation, in Wichita KS. Orkin comes here every month to spray in my unit, but there really not doing any good. Orkins own website says they keep bugs out. Well, they have come to this address for the last 8 years that I know of, can I sue? In fact this next month, I'm telling Orkin I dont want them in my unit, and if they come in, Im taking them to court. Can I do this? Cause I am making serious plans too.
About Orkin pest control? I was wondering if it really works the first time cause my townhouse has fleas Sorry if its the wrong section it is a exterminator
Yikes! I have black carpet beetles! Orkin's pest control service isn't working, how do I get rid of them?!? About a year ago, we had a contractor from Lowe's come and install carpet throughout our new house we just bought. About 3-6 months later we saw a black carpet larvae hanging out just outside our kitchen in the hallway on the carpet. We didn't have any money so we didn't call an exterminator and just killed it and left it alone. My wife also didn't regularly vacuum because my wife's parents never did and she didn't see the need to do it. Recently we had bed bugs and we've been vacuuming every week but ever since the bed bug extermination (the end of winter), we've been seeing our clothes get these serious holes in them. One hole was so huge I could put my thumb through it (and this was a towel)! During the bed bug follow up inspection, the exterminator looked inside our couch and discovered that there were dead black carpet beetle larvae and dead black carpet beetles inside but since they were all dead he didn't recommend for us to trash it. He also found dead carpet beetles along the edge of the living room carpet but made no attempt to remove them. I read online black carpet beetles feed on other dead insects... What started all this was we found an adult female black carpet beetle on my wife's cotton robe after she got on the shower. She's not sure if it flew on there and just landed and was eating or if he dropped on there from a towel she just put on her head that hadn't been used in a while... Either way, it spooked us and we had already hired Orkin to do quarterly pest control and year round check ups so it made sense to call them and have them figure it out. The best part is, the guy Orkin has assigned to us didn't even know what it was! Other sightings of these pests are: We saw a larvae shedding in our bed sheets (a sheet we haven't used in a while that we grabbed from the linen closet). I saw several more "skins" on the floor in linen closet. Orkin set down a series of glue traps (not containing Pheromone) and when a fly landed in it, a bunch of larvae rushed to go feed on the dead bug and got stuck on the trap. Another trap in another room had an adult black carpet beetle stuck to it. Lastly, several of my shirts had holes in it so I moved them from my dresser to my closet but it didn't stop the munching. If you don't think I can handle this myself (we "let it go" for about a year) who do I call to professionally deal with this??? If you think I can handle this, what do I do without disturbing my life too much - we just got through a bed bug disruption afterall...?
How much do pest / mice control services like Terminix or Orkin cost? Do they work? After cleaning under my stove I saw a slew of mouse droppings which was the first indication we had a big problem. We live near a field and I bought these humane mice traps and have caught 3 mice in a period of 3 days. However, I think the problem is much bigger than I anticipated. I am thinking about a service but how much does it cost? Would it be safe for my two dogs and family? Do these services actually work in getting rid of mice?
What is "reasonable provisions for pest control" according to Florida State landlord/tenant law? When I first moved into my apartment complex in October of last year, we were getting monthly pest control from our apt complex but by a third party like Orkin or something. Not sure who it was. Then, and without anything in writing, they stopped providing it. Now if we want pest control, they come over with a spray can like you can get at Walmart and spray the apartment. Can they do this?!
What is the best pest control for cockroaches? I have moved from Toronto to peel region .... Our apartment had roaches and a few may have come with us ... What do I do ? I seen 4 roaches today Abell or orkin or any other good companies what treatment is most effective gel or spray
What is the best pest control company? I live in south Txas so we have all sorts of nasty bugs. Scorpions pillbugs earwigs spiders fire ants & house ants ticks We had Terminex but they were awful. They didn't show up to appointments and never called. Plus we had to call them to come back every week because the bugs never went away or even lessened. We are now looking into Orkin but would appreciate any other opinions. We have 3 dogs and a baby on the way so it would also need to be non toxic.
Pest Control Companies really work? Hello!! For the last 12 years, I have had a centipede problem and it seems to be getting worse each year. I rarely see any centipedes in the Winter months (Michigan), but they seem to come out in early spring and last until late fall. In recent years, added to the centipede problem, I have been getting carpenter ants. My Father used to spray the perimiter of the house with chemicals he would buy at Kmart but it didn't seem to do anything. Since then, my father has passed away and I took over the house, I was wondering if I called a Pest Control Company like Orkin, Terminix, etc if my House's problems with Centipedes and Carpenter Ants will go away. When my father was alive, I suggested it and he told me these companies are out to rip people off and tell you they need to come out once a month for a year at $100 a visit and they still don't get rid of the problem, causing them to invite themselves to come out more often and spray, making themselves more money. Was he right?
termite pest control company? hi there, Which is the best pest control company in NYC. I have a termite problem at my house and would really like a referral. I google terminix and orkin and a lot of complaints were written on them. Please advise. Many thanks,

I kinda hope not cause i have a 2 yr old and he'll be into everything. Someone please let me know though if you've used Orkin. Thanks. They said the chemical they use is kid and animal friendly. How much does it cost to get rid of bed bugs through orkin? I'm not sure if I have them yet, My friend just called me and said that she found some all over her daughters mattress , she was at my house a couple days ago. Has anyone had experience with Orkin services? Has anyone had experience with Orkin? I signed a one year contract with Orkin for pest control they said when the contract ends if you still require service you get six months free just call us and we will schedule to come out. So when the six months were up I never called because I didn't need them to come back but they sent me another bill and another then they showed up at my home but I wouldn't let them in I said you aren't supposed to be here so the guy went to his truck and wrote something down and left then I got a bill so I called and they said you got a bill because the technician sprayed outside.... I told her oh no he didn't I watched him the whole time from the window he never sprayed anything so they said they would have a manager call me and it's been four days and no phone call. If I don't pay this last bill they sent I don't want it to end up on my credit report. Has anyone had an experience with them what can you do in this situation? My one year contract ended in May and I am still getting a bill in September I have never missed paying a bill all year why is this happening?
What (National) pest control company would you recommend? I have used Orkin for the last year and a half and have been unsatisfied with their results. We've had lots of black widow spiders in the yard and Orkin has been unable to control the problem. I watched the tech spray a storage bin with their products and within a week I found a black widow living right where he applied the product. I am looking to hire a new company and am curious if you have been especially satisfied with a company. Obviously local companies wouldn't apply unless you live in the Northern Virginia area. To respond to the previous poster- my yard, house and grass is immaculate. There is no clutter or unkempt brush piles of any type in the yard. The problem is I have 2 small dogs who stick their noses in everything, and every time I kick over a rock or slide a rubber storage bin there is a black widow web residing underneath it. Are you saying there are no pest control companies that can greatly reduce the number of potentially deadly spiders from my yard?
Pest control recommendation in Lynn, MA? I am looking for a reliable, affordable exterminator in Lynn, MA. We currently have Orkin and I am sick of paying their ridiculous prices. Any recommendations?
Is Orkin any good? Should I trust Orkin to do my pest control? Is there anyone better in Arizona?
Pest Control? I don't want to spend a fortune on Orkin or Terminex....but I have a roach problem due to not taking my trash to the dump for a while since my car broke down. They have INFESTED my kitchen...anything I can buy from a store that will be as effective as a professional exterminator?
What do sales inspectors do? There's an ad in the local paper for Orkin Pest Control. The job title is a Sales Inspector. No other details are available. Does anyone know what a sales inspector does?
I have to make up slogans, and I need help!? For my class I have to make up a new slogan for the following items: McDonald's, Pepsi, Diet Coke, Doritos, a new Nike shoe thats casual to wear with jeans, and Orkin pest control.Any help would be greatly appreciated!
What is the correct treatment for a carpenter ant problem? We noticed that we have carpenter ants in a wood beam of our home on the outside. We were hoping that this would be resolved with one pest control application, but Orkin wants to set up a quarterly application plan, which entails a lot more money. What is the typical application procedure, and do we really need the "quarterly plan?" I appreciate your input in advance.
Pest control- Fleas ,,,,,? Just called Orkin. $250 Forget that ! LOL I have fleas, lots of them because I let a bunch of feral cats in. Used 1 16 oz can of flea spray and its helped a little in my bedroom where they were not as bad but the other room is still full. I have a fogger that I haven't used. Appreciate any advice from anyone who has been there ! The 7 feral cats (4 kittens) are not coming back in.
Is there a different among methods used by pest control companies for termite treatment? I had termites swarming on inside of screen door this morning and also saw them on the wooden threshold of the door. Its May in Virginia & time for them to swarm. I had my basement checked in March of this year and there was no evidence of termites then. But according to the Orkin guy the termites could be there undetected and he thinks because I had this swarm on the inside of the door then the termites definitely originated from my house has opposed to flying to the door from a neighbor's. Also since this swarm exists he says the termites had to be in the home for 4 years..as they do not swarm before that. He also advises me my basement's moisture levels are "too high". I told him I was going to research it & compare to other companies...he says the other companies would not do as thorough of a job etc. etc....and they will quote me a lower price but it will be a ripoff...he says he is a Christian man and would not work for any of those companies except Orkin because according to him Orkin has integrity, etc. and is just the best one there is...he went into great detail about the treatment procedure. He's been a salesman for 22 years and apparently knows the right things to say...but it is $1200 or so to get the termites treated...over $1000 to put plastic on the crawlspace floor to "stop the moisture"...and like $700 to paint the inside beams in basement with borax or something like that to kill mold or fungus....(I'm not going down there period - spiders - too scared)...also he said there was an opening tomorrow and if I went ahead & decided they'd knock of a certain amount (which made me suspicious there, and also since he touted his Christianity that made me suspicious). My house is a one level ranch, maybe 1100 or 1200 sq feet...with a crawl space. Has any one had experience with termites? What do you think? I
Anyone out there doing their own pest control? What do you use and does it work? I've researched a lot on the net---seems to me that calling Terminx or Orkin is a waste of money. So I decided to do it myself and before I get started, I'd like to have some good advice. What's the best thing to use, how often, and so forth.....I don't have money to waste, that's why I am going to try myself--and oh, I live in an apartment and my neighbors aren't exactly the cleanest people. Do I still have a chance to get rid of the roaches and spiders? Thank you in advance!!!
What to do if you don't like landlord pest control company? I live in Columbus, Ohio and my complex sends over an Orkin man that is dumber than dog shit. He tells me something different every time he comes over. I have showed him the same bug three times but told him I have caught it in differentiates when really its the same bug I caught in the same area and he always says its a different bug and then when I question him about it he says it must have been someone else or I misunderstood what he said. The thing is every time I ask him I say is it bug A or bug B. He says bug B, when I show him again I say is it Bug B or Bug C. He says Bug C, and when I show him again, I ask is it Bug B or Bug C, he says its Bug D. How can the same bug be three different things, Also the specimens are all caught whole and intact. First off I have First off Kem Orkin is supposed to do mor ethan that at least they did when I used them for residential services when I owned my home. David I also have a family and this guy gets paid to keep the insects at bay for my family. Landlord the spray isn't working obvisouly if the problem still exists. B it's not to trick him its to see if he truly can fix the problem or is he just coming to pick up a pay check. All of you owuld do the same if you had this issue. As said he needs to asses the problem to know what to do to take car of it. Thats the reason why he gets paid. I never thought about it but that sounds like a excellent suggestion to request a supervisor or more experienced tech, the only issue is the Manager of the complex doesn't like me she thinks I'm a pre-madonna for wanting to get what I pay for so she wouldn't probally do it. I wonder if I call for myself?
Why do I STILL have roaches???!? No answers of "eww clean your kitchen", okay? It IS clean. Orkin pest control has come to spray twice, I tie up my garbage in a double plastic bag and take it out every day, I put boric acid powder underneath the fridge and stove and even in some of the cabinets (I stopped using them because of the roaches). I also found lots of cracks and taped them shut. I see roaches stuck in the tape, it's disgusting! My apartment manager had the units next to me sprayed also, because I know they must be coming from my neighbors, but nothing has helped! I don't know what else to do they will not go away!!! And no, I can't move, I am a student right now so I won't have 3 times the rent anywhere.....
if you find 1 or 2 bugs in your normally clean home....? does it mean there are more? I have only been living in this house 5 months, its a rental, and its really really old, and in the middle of the woods. I clean and bleach all the time and we pay Orkin pest control to come by once a month and spray inside and outside. Considering that we do live in the middle of the woods and the weather is changing, should i be worried that i found 2 disgusting roaches in 2 days???? I have hardwood floors and the house is very small so i've checked everywhere and under every cabinet. We dont have a lot of clutter but i dont see anywhere there could be more but i'm worried about eggs. I had thoroughly bleached and cleaned the bathroom the night before when i walked in and found one above the shower (as far from the bleach as possible) and i freaked out. Cleaned everything again, sprayed everywhere. Then I saw another smaller one, almost dead, the next day, right in the middle of the floor where i had just swiffered with pinesol!!! I've never had roaches in a home before, ever. I've always heard if there's one there's more. Should i call the pest control back and have them spray again? They just came a week ago and i'm pregnant so i'm trying not to use too much harsh spray. I'm not used to roaches or cockroaches and feel dirty thinking about them having been in here. The only way i can find that they might get in is a window that will not close all the way, but there's a screen behind it? Can they still get in? I didnt say they were coming up from under the house, i dont know where they came from. We live in the woods and there are a LOT of bugs outside. Its possible they could have just crawled inside to get away from the chemicals when they bug sprayed last time.
Black Mold In Rental Home!!? We had Orkin Pest Control come out to our rental home and inspect to tell us how much money it would cost for them to come out and rid us of our bug problem. The inspector is licensed through the state and legally has to tell us any problems he may find. He found black mold in the crawl space under our home and also in the attic. crawl space has 2 vents and he said we need 4 more installed. He sunk down into the mud of our crawl space which was very wet/damp no standing water though. He found camel crickets/spiders by the thousands. he said they covered the walls. his meter reader for humidity read 90% through the entire crawl space and it should have been 18% My husband and I live here with our son, 3 dogs, 1 cat and we also have a room-mate that has 3 children of his own who already have bad allergies. We have all been constantly sick since moving in..even my dogs have been very sick!! Our symptoms have been: diarrhea constant sneezing hard to breathe extreme migraines He said the vents that are in our bathroom that go into the attic do not have a place to get outside, so we are venting our bathroom humidity into the attic with nowhere for it to go. We talk to our landlord tomorrow and we are almost positive he will not spend the $3,000.00 that was quoted to fix this problem!! half of the house has windows you cannot open for air, they are picture windows that dont open. My questions are: Can this Black Mold harm us and our animals? What should we do if he wont fix the problem? (we know he had a similar situation recently in this same home, he had told us the mold problem was fixed, the people that lived here before us were very sick and had to move) we trusted him and thought it was ok. What do we do now? are there any laws in Michigan for this type of mold problem? the Orkin man said it was in stages 3 and 4 and it was BAD. PLEASE help!!!!!! Our symptoms have been: diarrhea constant sneezing hard to breathe extreme migraines soar throats coughing sluggish/overly tired stomach pain He also said there was a large amount of mold along the whole peak of the roof. Yes the room-mate is on the lease. We have no secrets from the landlord he was here recently and had to repair our roof, it was leaking through the light in our laundry room.
Why has the itching been going on for almost 3 months?! Help me!!? I started with a few red bumps on my wrists and arms and stomach. Then including the previous areas; my lower stomach and inner thighs. Then after that still including previous areas; my thighs, sides of waist, chest and even parts of my back have these itchy bumps. I'm even starting to notice recently that i itch even where there's not a bump. like on my shins and ankles. my leg bled from scratching and there were no visible bumps. The bumps are almost not even obvious unless they've been scratched when they turn white and the skin is bright red and perfect tracks of my fingernails. I thought it was bed bugs but Orkin pest control said it wasn't, thought it was scabies, doctor said no. she put me on benydril but that's not helping. i had a sore throat and have been on an antibiotic for the past two weeks, Amoxicilin, and that isn't doing anything to the bumps either. The itching is persistent throughout the day but mostly unbearable at night. I drive myself crazy scratching and it feels awfully destructive and I don't want to keep doing this to myself. I'd like some sort of idea when i go back to the doctor about what this could be cause the doctors here are shitty and my co pays are too much to just keep going back when something doesn't work. Any help would be appreciated.
Should I call Orkin, I have roaches? I have been getting roaches lately, and recently I did put out roach baits, whenever i see a roach i spray it with raid. I have a toddler and a cat. I'm thinking about calling Orkin however I spoke to other local pest control companies and they said it would be best to take everything out of my kitchen cabinets to spray and then go outside with my cat and toddler for an hour because of the fumes. Would I have to do the same with orkin or even terminix? I would rather just take stuff out from underneath the sinks and then clean my other things slowly or as I need them. I also have roaches in my garage and I also put SEVERAL roach bates in there. Also after putting out these roach bates and/or getting my home sprayed will this cause more roaches to come out to die?

Curious what products or chemicals that Professional Exterminator Uses to Eradicate Mice in Basement & Garage? There exists some Great Information in Yahoo Answers about Rodent Control, specifically neutralizing or trying to control "wise" Field Mice who I have seen in the past enter homes and build food caches via carrying dog food and storing it inside shoes & boots in the basement and garage etc Dogs and cats are in our household are no longer a problem.... Glue traps and spring loaded mouse traps baited with peanut butter don't seem to sufficiently stop or deter the unseen mice population. My wife thinks using poison bait pellets and/or blocks is not the answer/solution bec she is afraid that mice will die elsewhere in basement or garage. When I have found one that has actually managed to drag the glue trap and eventually die, they are normally dried & shrinklved up into a little tidy mess than I am considering using more aggressive extermination methods bec existing methods: glue traps, spring loaded traps and leaving garage door open for neighbor's cats simply isn't cutting the mustard... Thus, I was curious what a professional exterminator who does pest control for a living & is employed by companies like Orkin and Terminix what equivalent intermediate or advanced rodent control products & chemicals would he/she recommend that consumers and homeowners might find sold in hardware/grocery store(s)? Thanks so much for your time and wisdom!
Could God become a man (out of love for man) and still be Almighty? Reworded (to retain the logic): Could a parent, out of love, stoop down to the level of his/her child and remain a parent? OR Could the Orkin man (supposing he is really, truly empathetic) drop down to the level of a cockroach, in order to save it, and still carry the title of "pest control expert" -- or would he become the pest? ERGO: Does God need to drop down to our level to prove to us that HE loves us? Another: Could God eat and then relieve himself? Phobia- how do you live with them? I'm sick of living with a phobia. I have katsaridaphobia: fear of those brown-nasty-inects-that-must-not-be-named I'm fine with spiders, ants, bees, and most other kids of bugs. I even like gardening and camping, and have held a tarantula. But those other little buggers.... I can't take it. We moved into a new apt. complex. We live in FL so they're pretty abundant here anyway, you almost can't avoid a couple getting in during the rainy season, but they said they had good pest control. For five weeks we didn't see anything. Then a new family moved in upstairs. Now we're seeing one or two a week. I'm wondering if they brought them in. It's hard to live with. When I want to get something out of the closet I have to use kitchen tongs. I'm a writer, so when I work at home and sit down to write, I have to keep my feet up on a chair-- I won't put them down on the floor. Every little shadow-- or my kids little toys like legos and stuff-- make me jump and scream. I have to make my kids and husband check the bathroom for bugs before I can pee. My kids were just doing a research project on garden pests and a page that opened had a picture of a big one and it made me jump and sick and now I'm nauseous and I'm afraid the nightmares are going to start again. I can't even look at them on television, I hate when they cut a scene to them suddenly in movies or commercials-- OMG, I HATED Orkin when they ran those stupid commercials that made a bug look like it was crossing the screen, I screamed and almost dropped my baby the first time I saw that at night in the dark. My husband wants me to go to therapy to overcome it; but truth is, I don't want to, because I am afraid to spend that much time talking/thinking about them and that they might even try to make me get near one! I can't even think about it! Anyway... for those of you who have phobias that alter your life, how do you cope? Please advise, I am getting rather tired from being so tense and jumpy and afraid to do things in my own home.
Does an employer have the right to force an employee to participate in a recreation sport? A friend (a pastor) I know works for a large bug killer organization (Orkin, Charleston, WV). He has been told that in August, 2009, he MUST attend a trip to Beckley, WV and participate in a white-water raft adventure. In fact, he protested the activity but was told, "You'll do what I tell you to do." HIs boss made his position unmistakeably clear. My friend was confused as to what this had to do with anything related to the business of pest control but was, again, met with the stern rebuff that he must do this. Period. Now, my friend is close to 60 years of age. He has arthritis, as well. Anyway, any legal minds out there that can advise on this matter? Thanks. Interesting (and varied) responses, thus far. Of note is the fact that this employee is their top saleman (yet is NEVER recognized for it....no, instead, they -- politics as usual -- recognize the second top salesman). Also of note is the fact that my friend cannot swim (and has informed them of this lack of skill...it made no difference). Hmmm, as to "get on board" and "team work skillbuilding," well, if one doesn't show that at work and show that by being the top salesman (recognized or not), well, to me, they'll never see it then. Too, it sounds like another entity trespassing into one's personal life and time. Just another excuse to do so. Japanese management has had this problem in the past (still does that I know of) and the death rate was very high due to it. If state, local, and federal governments aren't enough into our lives, now we must contend with employers doing so?
