Terminix Pest Control Knowledge Base
Is Terminix pest control company legitimate? I just moved to the Sacramento area and so black widows are new to me. Havent seen any inside yet but saw a few outside, so I called Terminix and they sprayed indoors and outdoors and got rid of the spider webs around my house. I'm wondering how effective Terminix is because I've read stories about the treatment not working and that their technicians arent trained properly and use water instead of chemicals... I'm paying over $400 a year, so I need to know. Thanks.
Orkin or Terminix pest control? Which one is better for the money, Orkin pest control or Terminix? We have more bugs than usual in this state of florida during the summer so i plan on having someone come out next week but I need to know which one is better. I made an appt with Orkin already and it's really expensive and you have to sign up for 1 year but i'm hearing some not so good opinions about the company...anyone have any experiences with any company, please let me know?? I want to get rid of the bugs for good and don't want to be disappointed with the service i get ! =)
How much do pest / mice control services like Terminix or Orkin cost? Do they work? After cleaning under my stove I saw a slew of mouse droppings which was the first indication we had a big problem. We live near a field and I bought these humane mice traps and have caught 3 mice in a period of 3 days. However, I think the problem is much bigger than I anticipated. I am thinking about a service but how much does it cost? Would it be safe for my two dogs and family? Do these services actually work in getting rid of mice?

Pest Control Companies really work? Hello!! For the last 12 years, I have had a centipede problem and it seems to be getting worse each year. I rarely see any centipedes in the Winter months (Michigan), but they seem to come out in early spring and last until late fall. In recent years, added to the centipede problem, I have been getting carpenter ants. My Father used to spray the perimiter of the house with chemicals he would buy at Kmart but it didn't seem to do anything. Since then, my father has passed away and I took over the house, I was wondering if I called a Pest Control Company like Orkin, Terminix, etc if my House's problems with Centipedes and Carpenter Ants will go away. When my father was alive, I suggested it and he told me these companies are out to rip people off and tell you they need to come out once a month for a year at $100 a visit and they still don't get rid of the problem, causing them to invite themselves to come out more often and spray, making themselves more money. Was he right?
Which Pest Control Company Should I Work For? I was offered a job with two companies both in the pest control field. I have no experience but both have good incentives. The first is Terminix which is offering me 11.25 an hour and the other is a company called Titan which pays 10. With Terminix I will be a termite technician which according to the Titan owner will be harder work than what he is asking of me. The Titan owner wants me to be strictly pest control. The Titan manager says I won't feel like selling any more termite inspections at the end of the day if I go with Terminx so in the long run he says I will make more with him because I can go door to door and make more comission. On the other hand Terminix is more established. I should put out there transportation is an issue for me and I will get the truck sooner with Titan Pest Control. I feel like I would have more advancement opportunities with Terminix. I can't lean towards one or the other so I need any pest control proffessionals out there to help as to what they would do. Thank you for your time
pest control? does anyone know what the active ingredient is in the bait gel used by terminix. I'm trying to buy some baits but i don't want to put down the same kind as the terminix man. Or does it matter, is it more about changing the type of bait used or the type of insecticide used?
i got ripped off, suggestions? My family has been with Terminix(pest control) for almost a year. We signed a contract for a year and we hated it. They would never arrive on time and each time they came, we had to pay $100 extra despite the fact that we already paid for everything. Now, today, they came and told my daughter (13) that we had an appointment. I wasn't home. She told Tertminix that we didn't make an appointment and that we weren't home. So, the guy, said some stuff and my daughter signed it even though she was only 13! She didn't know a thing and now they are charging us $100 +tax even though they didn't even come up. Are there are suggestions on how to explain to Terminix that the guy didn't come up and that we're not paying the amount?

Spider and scorpion problems in rental home: what do I do and why won't my landlord pay for it?!?! My husband, myself and my two little children (2 1/2 and newborn) live in a rental house out in the woods. This past saturday I was stung on my thumb by a scorpion. The pain was excruciating and I had to go to the ER to get a pain shot (not sure but I might be allergic to them). We have had terminix come out today and spray our home, and I spoke to my landlord (we live out in Arkansas) and he claims that he is not going to be held responsible for footing the bill for the pest control. I've never heard of a landlord NOT taking care of something like this, especially when it doesn't have anything to do with our living habits but rather the area and property we live on. Should I fight this and try to take legal action? I'm also tempted to move out of the house entirely, but my husband doesn't want to leave. I'm just scared our two children might get stung or hurt, and it will affect them worse b/c they are so small. Is the terminix spraying enough? Am I overreacting?

Terminex Exterminator Caught With Pants Down? http://video.nbc5i.com/player/?id=102556 nbc5i.com More A Plano woman says she caught an exterminator doing something unspeakable inside her home. Homeowner: Exterminator Caught With Pants Down POSTED: 8:49 am CDT May 10, 2007 UPDATED: 9:15 am CDT May 10, 2007 PLANO, Texas -- An exterminator was fired after a Plano woman said she caught him with his pants down. Mark Brackenridge, 37, was treating a home when he exposed himself to the homeowner, the woman said. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Video -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Liz Lansing saw Brackenridge treating her neighbor’s house on Charlene Drive. "This guy was standing in the front yard. He was doing his work and then he just kept staring at me and I felt very uncomfortable with that," Lansing said. Lansing was even more uncomfortable when she found out the former termite and pest control worker is accused of exposing and touching himself inside her neighbor's home. "I definitely would have let him in too if somebody was coming to my house to do the work and he had the uniform on," she said. Terminix spokesman Clint Briscoe released a statement to NBC 5 saying: "The actions of this former employee are inexcusable and are in no way a reflection of the values and standards of our company. " On Monday, Brackenridge turned himself in at the Collin County Jail. He is out on bond and no longer lives in his Wylie home. Lansing said she still can't forget the way the exterminator stared at her. "I don't know if he was looking at me to come back later or, you know, just making sure that there weren't too many witnesses around, but after I heard what went on, it was very creepy. (I) just got really spooked about it,” Lansing said. Copyright 2007 by nbc5i.com. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten or redistributed.
Curious what products or chemicals that Professional Exterminator Uses to Eradicate Mice in Basement & Garage? There exists some Great Information in Yahoo Answers about Rodent Control, specifically neutralizing or trying to control "wise" Field Mice who I have seen in the past enter homes and build food caches via carrying dog food and storing it inside shoes & boots in the basement and garage etc Dogs and cats are in our household are no longer a problem.... Glue traps and spring loaded mouse traps baited with peanut butter don't seem to sufficiently stop or deter the unseen mice population. My wife thinks using poison bait pellets and/or blocks is not the answer/solution bec she is afraid that mice will die elsewhere in basement or garage. When I have found one that has actually managed to drag the glue trap and eventually die, they are normally dried & shrinklved up into a little tidy mess than I am considering using more aggressive extermination methods bec existing methods: glue traps, spring loaded traps and leaving garage door open for neighbor's cats simply isn't cutting the mustard... Thus, I was curious what a professional exterminator who does pest control for a living & is employed by companies like Orkin and Terminix what equivalent intermediate or advanced rodent control products & chemicals would he/she recommend that consumers and homeowners might find sold in hardware/grocery store(s)? Thanks so much for your time and wisdom!
Bed bug confusion. I had bed bugs for months but now they seem to have disappeared? Okay so my family and I moved to an apartment. We live in West Los Angeles. My brother was first to notice little bugs on his bed. After a lot of research on my part i found out they were bed bugs. Soon everyone seem to get "bites". I forced my family to do something. I threw out most of my stuff out including my nice bed( it was wood and there was no hope for it) I cleaned my rooms walls and floor frequently, i put tape in every corner, i washed all my clothers in hot water, and dried them in the highest heat, all electronics went into bags as well as books, and anything else that couldnt be washed. I kept them there until I knew what to do with them. Before all this I had used Bayers Pest Control Spray. I convinced the rest of my family to do the same. They were reluctant to do anything. My mom found out that the neighbor in the building had them but they didnt know it was bed bugs. So i know that the building has them. Anyway the landlord finally brought some exterminator form terminix. When I heard this I was devasted. I knew they would use useless chemicals the landlord was too cheap to hire a company that uses non chemical products. Terminix came only one time wich is not enough. The landlord didnt want to fumigate the whole building. I knew they would come from the other apartment. Sure enough my broher found bugs in their latest stage( before we had only seen the third stage) After several weeks everyone stopped gettings the bites. Nobody saw any either. There were no longer any blood stains on the sheets. NO black spots. Nothing. I KNOW these little vampires dont just go away. Can someone explain why they seem to have disappeared.
I'm terrified of ants? A couple years ago, I dealt with my first ant infestation in our newer home. I'd left a soda in my room over night and I came home to see ants everywhere. I was s terrified that even after we got rid of them, I moved out of that room. From there we kept getting them in the kitchen and wash room, and we kept calling pest control. But I was so angry and scared that I begged my parents to get yearly extermination. Supposively they come, but just last night I started killing few ants by our backyard, sliding door. Obviously Terminix isn't as faithful as it should be. But I was wondering if I have a genuine problem to where I may need therapy or hypnosis? I keep thinking about for when I move out on my own, how I won't be able to handle it if i get ants in my own home. Should I talk to my parents about options of solving my phobia?
How can I treat my home myself, against Subterranean termites that are already in my walls? I thought they were just outside.. I saw them flying around my windows.. Recently they have been dropping out of light fixtures on our ceilings, flying out of our air ducts.. Some were even coming out of an inside wall.. Getting pretty scary.. I had terminix here and they were going to do stakes outside.. I called a different company and they want to tear up my hardwood flooring and drill every 18 inches.. Both companies are charging a lot of money, and I can't afford it at this time.. I went to Lowes and bought the stakes and put them in every 10 feet around the house.. = Spectracide 15-Pack Terminate Termite Detection and Killing Stakes.. A pest control guy told me that those stakes just kill the ones that eat the stuff inside and not the colonies.. What do I do about the termites already in the walls..?? Please help.. I have a termite flying over my head as I type.. THANKS!!!!!!! All advice is good advice!!
Roaches...can't tell what kind or if it's an infestation? First, let me say, we used to get regular service (I hate roaches!) but I stopped about 3 months ago because it was so expensive and the company I used never called ahead, they just showed up. I used Terminix because they did the best job, but they also charged the most and came twice a month instead of quarterly. In the last few weeks, I have seen 4 or 5 roaches- some alive, some dead. (I think wood roaches?) More of an oval/roundish shape, dark, and somewhere between the size of a quarter and a nickel. They aren't the german cockroaches I normally associate with infestation. We just opened a business and I have two toddlers so, admittedly, housework has more or less gotten the shaft (a fact which I have committed myself to remedying this week) so it would be no surprise to me if we were tempting them in. I went around the house with Raid Max bug barrier, inside and out, and saw another one today (in the middle of day, no less, about 5 minutes ago) that didn't seem to be dying. So finally, to my question(s).... Are these sightings likely the result of an infestation or is it maybe the 110 degree weather luring them inside? and secondly....If it is an infestation, should the bug barrier work or am I just going to have to call pest control out here to get it taken care of? Ooooor....is there a product that WILL work for them? Thanks in advance!
Should I call Orkin, I have roaches? I have been getting roaches lately, and recently I did put out roach baits, whenever i see a roach i spray it with raid. I have a toddler and a cat. I'm thinking about calling Orkin however I spoke to other local pest control companies and they said it would be best to take everything out of my kitchen cabinets to spray and then go outside with my cat and toddler for an hour because of the fumes. Would I have to do the same with orkin or even terminix? I would rather just take stuff out from underneath the sinks and then clean my other things slowly or as I need them. I also have roaches in my garage and I also put SEVERAL roach bates in there. Also after putting out these roach bates and/or getting my home sprayed will this cause more roaches to come out to die?
A question for vegans? How do you feel about "pest" control? Do you ever use ant traps in your house? Have you ever called the Terminix guy? Don't get mad at me. I'm also a vegan and I genuinely want to know your stance on this.
