What is the best method to get rid of chipmunks?
Any good tips on ways to get rid of a lot of chipmunks so they go away and stay gone? Ours have already dug holes all over our yard and now under our garage.

- Put poison peanuts in their holes. It is a product like DeCon.
- Pellet/BB gun or possibly a .22 if they're on the bigger size.
- Borrow a dog. Retrievers love to chase chipmunks. Cats will eat them.
- Give them two mouse companions a skinny lady mouse and a fat male mouse who loves cheese so they can go off and have incredibile adventures somewhere other than your house
- Cats eat ours. Never had a problem.
- I kind of like them around... but my cats mostly keep them away. I have holes all about the lawn, either chipmunks or moles but that's life. Sorry.
- Moth balls.
- The most humane way to take them out is a rat trap with peanut butter. No suffering that way and you get a body count. The problem with poisons, besides taking a long time to kill them, is you don't KNOW if or how many you got. With the traps you do. Downside, with the traps you have to deal with them. With poison they go off to a lingering death which you don't have to worry yourself about.
- We have used rat traps in the past - HOWEVER - sometimes it does not kill them instantly - and the chipmunks will run around with the trap on their body for 1/2 hr or so., also regular squirrels get caught in them! Have you even seen a full size squirrel run around with a rat trap on their head - not a pretty sight. Cats will take care of them - real quick
