How do you make a chipmunk song?

i tryed downloading audacity but i says something weird and woulnt download

1. The original "chipmunks" songs were recorded by bass (very low) singers talking and singing very slowly but played back at twice the speed.
2. here is the official site. http://audacity.sourceforge.net/download/ get the 1.2.6 version as the beta version is unstable. import the song, (or drag and drop it) then select the whole track and click effects>change speed and increase the speed by about double.
