how do you make a song sound like chipmunks on macs?

Garageband wont do it unless it's a recording, and itunes wont let me. How do you make a song sound like alvin and the chipmunks without changing the tempo?

1. try using Audacity. It's a great sound editing program that's free and has a lot of features. I'm not 100 percent sure if it has the exact thing you're looking for but I'm almost certain it does. http://audacity.sourceforge.net/
2. On garage band you can do it. just start a vocal track and select vocal transformer, and chipmunk.
