eChipmunks

Fans of "Alvin and the Chipmunks", please answer this question. :)?

I read somewhere that fans of the most recent "Alvin and the Chipmunks" movie were dissatisfied and even appalled because the movie "did not depict the chipmunks in a respectful manner". I had watched the 1980s series as well as "The Chipmunk Adventure" prior to the 2008 movie and though I like "Alvin and the Chipmunks", I didn't see any display of disrespect towards the Chipmunks, even though I didn't think very much of the movie either. Care to enlighten me? Haha thanks. :D

2. now...i'm an old school fan of the 'munks (datin' back to the original 'the alvin show' in the 60s... the chipmunks passin' gas?...no, no, no... the whole 'bow chicka bow wow' thing?...no, no .no... of course...i didn't care for the 80s reincarnation either what with the whole 'after school special' feel...
3. the film is meant to be fantastic for "alvin and the chipmunks" fans, where ever you heard those lies from is beyond me! :)
4. its a really good movie.
