How do you get rid of chipmunks without harming any other animals?

Chipmunks keep chewing a hole in my dads pond which causes it to leak this has been happening almost every year. we just recently repaired it but the chipmunks ruined it again! what would be the best solution to get rid of this problum without harming the enviorment or other species of animals around it?

1. various ways. Simple - Shoot them harder - get a cat hardest - catch them Are they chewing the pond or something else and damaging the pond in the process?
2. A cat will do it. Are you sure its the monks not moles or shrews. A few Moth balls will help or a rubber snake works on rabbits in the garden. Make the water easier for them to get too. they need a drink to.
3. Get a live trap and relocate them. It's a little time consuming but it gets rid of them and they can't do any more damage.
