For anyone with pest control advice/experience - earwigs?

For anyone out there with experience in pest control: For whatever reason, I have a problem in my townhome with earwigs. I live in Mesa, Arizona, and these are probably the critters I have the most problem with, seem impervious to pest control (using Ortho myself, Truly Nolen service, etc.), keep coming back, and seem to be proliferating. Anybody have any clues as to how to control/eliminate them; which other insect/animal in nature is their natural enemy; and why they would keep coming back even after several pesticide treatments? I have several glue traps set up around the house to kind of get a "feel" for the traffic flow of various insect pests; where they're at, where they're going and coming from, etc. Earwigs are the largest contingent of pests by far (just a few spiders, and then crickets here in the summer/fall period). Right now, it's earwigs "gone wild..." Thanks! Dave in Arizona

  1. they are tuff to get rid of. but, they are also omnivores - so they cud be actually keeping other insects out. i hate this buggers myself but they do more good than harm. good luck
  2. The other poster was correct in that they do more good than harm by feasting on other insects, but one of the best repellants is to use diatomaceous earth placed around baseboards and windowsills. This will last a long time and still be an effective natual killer.
