I just moved to spring tx and wanted to know how much should i pay for pest service and is it really needed?

I got sold on this service that charges 80 bucks every two months for 1 yr (480 buck/yr) and they come and do a pest control service 6 times. My house is brand new and was wondering if i really need this service that some money! if I ever need to call the pest control how much would they charge me that one time?

Pests? I don't know about pests, but fire ants!!! Yikes! If fire ants have mounds on your property, you will need the pest control to come out and treat the mounds. If the ants aren't too bad, you can get a bag of stuff at Home Depot, Lowes, or Walmart for about $20.00 and treat the mounds yourself. If you live outside the city limits, there are a number of things you can do... for example, dogs outside in your yard will keep away snakes, armadillos, etc., Chickens will keep mice and rats away from getting into your house; plus they will eat all kinds of bugs, insects, etc. Cats also will go after mice.
In Spring, you will have big issues with roaches for sure. Make sure they treat for fire ants, and I don't mean spot treat. Have them apply a bait to entire property. If they say no, cancel the service. $80.00 is fine for a 2500 sq. ft. house. Now go drink a beer and relax.
