- They are junk and have actually been on the market for over 20 years but not under the name of riddex...A friend of mine had a rodent problem and got one of these a long time ago..to test them he put trays of dog food right under the unit by the plug they were plugged into, and sure enough..the small lids of dog food was eaten by rodents anyway..this was about 12 inches from the unit itself..they are junk
- We bought a pair of them several years ago. The first year we used them we actually only had one mouse the entire winter, so we figured they really worked. However, this past winter was a different story. I trapped 10 mice last fall in one 24 hour period and I've trapped more since. So, to answer your question, they're not worth crap.
- Don't waste your money. First, make sure the home is clean and there is no food, open liquids, standing water, dirty dishes, garbage, etc., out where the pests can get it. Food products should be sealed in glass or metal containers or in the refrigerator. Rats and roaches will get through cardboard and plastic, and most flexible food containers. Dishes should all be at least rinsed before going to sleep. Thoroughly clean kitchen counters, cabinets, and floors. Roaches are harder to get rid of than rats, but it can be done. Put insecticide or boric acid powder along all wall/floor joints and under appliances. For mice and rats, use traps, sticky traps, etc. If you use rat poison, put it where pets and kids cannot get to it. Remove the dead creatures as you find them. They didn't get there overnight and you won't get rid of them overnight, but if you stay after it you will.
