A question about pest control??????please help!!!?

Ok so terminex charge me and my husband $500 for a year of pest control. My husband doesn't want to pay that much money to get rid of bugs. Ok so there I was sitting pretty having not had any bugs in my house for a whole. Now our contract is up, and what happens? 3 water-bugs and one tiny roach appears in a span of one week. I scream every time one pops up and I want to put a stop to this immediately. My husband refuses to pay someone else. What can we do ourselves that would be the equivalent to what they do as far as treatment? What products and stuff do I need? help!!

  1. DIY pest control is way cheaper, apply insecticides aroung foundation of house, and place baits inside the house. also remember that drastic weather changes can bring some bugs out. like tons of rain after a drought. find a local chemical supply place or feed store and look at their supplies. I do it myself and don't have any bugs.
  2. Treating your own home is affordable and can be done both safely and effectively. On the exterior treat the perimeter with diazinon or dursban granules. liquid pesticides do not hold up well when they are exposed to the elements. Inside use a pesticide spray paying special attention to water areas. Under sinks, hot water heaters, under refrigerators, toilets, washer machines, and any place where an insect could obtain water. Bugs can find food in a lot of places in your home, so concentrate on the water areas. They MUST get water and if these areas have been treated with a pesticide which leaves a residual they will die. Most pesticides available to the homeowner all contain the same ingredients. Avoid indiscriminate spraying. Its not safe. Target the area you need to treat. If you have more questions feel free to ask me. Good luck!
