How do you make a Chipmunk song?

How do you make a song sound like the chipmunks?? I tried using audacity, followed all the instructions and everything and I couldn't get it to play. Is there an easier way to do it? Thanks! :) P.S.- I use a Mac and I don't want to use GarageBand.
