Mostly I have earwigs. or I think that's what they are. Black, long bugs with horns on their tail. any ideas how to kill them?? Thanks.

- mary try DE diatamaceous earth Household: Use Diatomaceous Earth for control of roaches, silverfish, ants, bedbugs, flies, fleas, box elder bugs, scorpions, crickets, and many other insects. Diatomaceous Earth can be used in and around the home, yard, animal housing, grain storage in silos and bunkers, etc. I live in cowtown next door to dallas and this is what we use Pets: Our best friends come in all shapes and sizes. Protect them with Diatomaceous Earth. When lightly rubbed into their coats it is very effective against fleas, ticks, lice, and other pests on pet dogs, cats, and their premises. It can also be used as an organic wormer and will kill any worms or parasites the pets may have. When using as a de-wormer, mix the Diatomaceous Earth into their food. Ask your vet how much for your size pet
- No pest control service can be provided twice a year in Texas and expect to control all your bugs. When the bug guy comes he only kills most of the bugs there now and what's to come for the next few weeks. Most residual pest control products will not last longer than 8 weeks or so, and not that long outside most of the time. Weather, of course is a big factor. Can't kill the bugs in March that don't show up till June. General pest control is more about management than elimination, and will take applications at least every 60 days during the warmer months to provide what most feel is adequate control. Bug proofing is not practical to most, but if you have the money, companies will spend more time and product to try to meet your needs. Everyone is different about their pest tolerance.
- who's the best pest company in the Dallas area? I'll say me of course :) I would suggest still going with an established independent over the national companies due to you can "personalize" the type of treatment needed rather than sign a contract, and be committed for long term no matter what you are dealing with. No matter what was used at best may give 8-10 weeks of good results, so I would suggest going on a quarterly service. With all the rain we had last year the earwig populations have been up, more so if your yard has a wet area in it and of course the flower bed with lots of mulch up against the house. treating problem areas along with a good residual around the foundation will help a lot.
- Earwigs are occasional invaders that like moisture and feed on dead decay, so if you have a damp basement or have mulch or decaying materials around your foundation. Then that would be a conducive condition. Try eliminating their conditions and seal any possible entry points, then it should get better. Best pest control companies are usually the small mom and pop . They spend more time with each property and like to keep customers happy. I should know I own one lol
