i got ripped off, suggestions?
My family has been with Terminix(pest control) for almost a year. We signed a contract for a year and we hated it. They would never arrive on time and each time they came, we had to pay $100 extra despite the fact that we already paid for everything. Now, today, they came and told my daughter (13) that we had an appointment. I wasn't home. She told Tertminix that we didn't make an appointment and that we weren't home. So, the guy, said some stuff and my daughter signed it even though she was only 13! She didn't know a thing and now they are charging us $100 +tax even though they didn't even come up. Are there are suggestions on how to explain to Terminix that the guy didn't come up and that we're not paying the amount?

- OK, wow! That's not cool! I would call the police and get that Terminix guy fired! That's not good to come without an appointment.. Your 13 year old was in potential danger! Oh.. I'm upset now!
- I have to agree with the previous answerer - there was a lot of potential danger to your daughter in that situation. Have you not instructed her to NOT open the doors to strangers if you aren't home?? I think that you might possibly be dealing with an 'imposter' company. Call like a regional Terminix center and see if they know of persons X, Y, Z with whom you have been dealing. The real Terminex company wouldn't be charging $100 per visit based on THEIR failure to appear on the job. YOU should be getting a DISCOUNT, not an added fee ! -------------- As for the 'real' Terminix, they aren't so hot either. Our apartment building signed a contract with them, and they never did cr*p. Sorry about the language, but it's true. They would poke around the units with a flashlight for about 2 minutes, say "all's fine", and leave after that collecting their fees. It has later come to light that our building, although not run down by any means, does in fact have the dreaded bedbugs. Terminix never noticed (or apparently cared), We've moved to a different company who at least seems more determined to help with detecting and treating problems. (The new company is called Sprague pest control and they are thorough).
