What is the best outdoor pest control product to use in the yard?

We have an influx of spiders and mosquitos where we just moved, and I want to be able to enjoy the SoCal sunshine without freaking out. I heard a commercial on the radio about a product called Bug Be Gone or something like that... you put it on your yard and the effects last up to 3 months. I have not been able to find this online. ANY help would be nice! Thank you!

1. If money is no option, there are companies that come and install what could be compared to a sprinkler system but releases antibug chemicals every however often to form a perimeter around your house.
