What are the advantages and disadvantages of pest control devices.?
i got this pest control device recently that uses sound waves to drive away pests. its range is 25 metres square and 50 cubic metres. i have got a turtle and i want to basically know if this will in anyway affect it. moreover how does it exactly work?what are its advantages and disadvantages.thanks!

- I've had 3 of those for years to supposedly drive away mice and as far as I can tell they're totally useless. Two are in or near the kitchen which is where we usually see mice so I don't think they work at all.
- I work in pest control and we do not recommend these devices. The best way I can describe this is by giving you an example. High frequency sound is inaudible to humans, but a dog whistle can be heard by dogs. These devices work similarly and are typically only effective for short periods, on mammals like rodents (mice, rats, squirrels, etc.) Another example I might have - if you had a train passing through your back yard, it would drive you crazy the first few times that it passed through, but over time you would be conditioned to tune it out. Mice and rats respond this way to plug in high frequency units too. Not effective. Good luck! Pests are best controlled by inspection, exclusion, and treatment from the exterior of a home.
