eChipmunks

How do you get rid of chipmunks underneath the house?

They are making holed under the electric meter. They are cute, but is it better to try and poison them or catch and move them? I'm good either way.

  1. Encourage them to leave the spot by perhaps piling some wood away from the house and they will go there to build a home. Don't hurt them; it is bad luck to harm a chipmunk.
  2. ~Be very careful how you handle them, dead or alive. Chimpmunks that move into human space more often than not are rabid.
  3. make sure you dont have food around for them
  4. Chipmunks, squirrels, and mice do not like to live near people. I had investigated it and found that a radio turned to a station of all talk will stop them residing where they can hear the talk. I later found a weather radio at a yard sale for a cheap price and it worked real well because it sends off that high-pitched alarm randomly. Rodents do not like vibrations either so if you have a metal steak you can put in the ground near them and bang upon it they will flee. If you do this at night it would benefit most because they will flee in the darkness if they were nesting.
  5. you can make their current living arrangements so unpleasant that they'll move. put moth balls down their holes or ammonia soaked rags around them. mix vinegar and tabasco sauce and spray it in and around their holes. make balls of human hair or dog fur and wrap them in cheesecloth and place them around your yard. pee in various locations around your yard (preferably at night). get one of those fake owls with the rotating heads and put it where they can see it. use a combination of these methods. pretend you're the landlord who hates his tenants. i've found that dogs usually hate chipmunks and will sniff them out quickly and wait patiently for long periods for them to come out of their hiding spaces. cats usually ignore them and go after birds instead.
