What are some natural pest controls/repellents?

Okay, so after we've cleaned house, what are some natural ways to control the pests that have decided to invade? Our biggest problems are German roaches and mice. We've tried bug spray, boric acid, and glue traps. I really hate spraying chemicals in the house, and the glue traps just make me feel awful when you hear the mice squeaking, so I want to try some natural repellents. I've heard that cucumbers will repel roaches, but I tried it and it didn't really work. I've also heard that catnip will get rid of cockroaches, but what affect does it have on the mice? If mice are attracted to it like cats are, we may have eliminated one problem but made another grow. Anyone who lives in an old house and by the woods/forest knows how hard it is to keep bugs out (especially when it rains). I not only want to get rid of the ones we have, but I want to repel any from wanting to enter the house. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

  1. mouse traps, old fashioned ones and spray for roaches.you cant kill roaches without spray.they have survived since earth was created a show i watch is billy the exterminator.might learn something from watching him http://www.hulu.com/billy-the-exterminator
  2. There are different kinds of traps for mice. Dcon has 5 kinds. One is a spin trap that the mouse goes in, eats poison and stays in the trap. Another kind, the mouse goes in and can not get out. These can be found in places like Lowes and places that sell bug sprays. Sprays will not kill german roaches. They are hard to kill and multiply like crazy. Combat gel will kill them. It cost from 6-8 dollars a syringe. The roaches eat this and go to their nest and dark hiding places and die and the other roaches eat their dead and they die. It will take a little bit of time for the roaches to die. They will be deader than a door knob. Ortho Home Defense is good to spray the foundation of the house to kill bugs when they want to invade your home. Demon WP is good to to put there. Home Depot and Lowes have this too. They can be found in the stores mentioned above.
  3. Google "Chinese Miraculous Insecticide Chalk". It's not what you would call "natural", but it works better than anything I've ever seen. You will never see a roach in your house again that is not either dead or dying.
