do electronic pest control devices work?

i have read a lot of questions and answers on this site about this very subject and i would have to say 90% of all people say the products are useless. but then there are some who swear by them and have for years. when i was younger i worked with a guy who used them and it worked wonders. the problems i am having are spiders, centipedes, ants, and "rollie pollies", but not mice or rats. i spray like crazy but nothing works, i have seen government action on the ineffectiveness of this product but personal experience that they do work. i realize the huge flaw in design is that roaches are attracted to the magnetism. MQ: have you ever used electronic pest control? did it work? what brand/kind did/do you use? BQ: what would you suggest besides EPC?

  1. Well I for one think those things are useless.I had one and a spider was sitting right on top of the thing.I thrown it away and got instead some surface spray which you need to spray all over the house. It lasts for up to 6 month. That finally got rid of the critters. Maybe you have better luck in finding one that works.
  2. They are GREAT for taking your money. The only things that work are persistence and diligence.
  3. Mpffffff.... Put EPC units right up there with Bug Zappers in the utterly useless, at least annoying, possibly dangerous category. a) No, they do not work. b) And if you have children (especially babies), cats or dogs in the house they will be annoyed by them. c) Yes, we tried them - I was given a very 'high-end' commercial grade set to try at one of our properties. They did not work there at all, on anything. For arthropods (insects, spiders, centipedes, millipedes, sow beetles and so forth), scatter diatomaceous earth where they travel or gather. This will eliminate them over time and is also completely harmless to children, pets and pretty much anything with a spine. It works, it is cheap, it is harmless and it is easy to clean up when you are done with it. Note that many insecticides, other than being strong poisons that are quite dangerous to you and anything around you, don't always work on every sort of critter. Best to avoid them altogether if possible.
