getting rid of soil pest?

I have a dieffenbachia with these little white rice looking pest in the soil. I have let the soil dry but I know once I water again they will show up. Is there any natural pest control that I can put on the soil without hurting the plant? I read somewhere that you can use a mixture of water & cinnamon to pour on the soil to kill these pest. Is this true? I called Calloways but of course they want me to buy their expensive products. Is there another easier & even perhaps a cheap method of killing these bugs?
