Would like to start a PEST CONTROL BUSINESS any advice?

hello everyone we would like to start a pest control biz n florida and we are wondering what certifications are necessary and any other info you would have regarding the biz, thanks in advance for any help.

1. Starting a business anywhere is not as easy as it looks; however, lots of people do it successfully. The main reasons most do not survive are 1. lack of sufficient cash to carry the business until it becomes profitable 2. lack of sufficient knowledge about the product or service and 3. difficulty in hiring and keeping rfeliable, knowledgeable help. In Florida, there are local organizations, some privatre and some state, to help new business owners learn the ropes. Some can be located through your county offices or business organizations. Local colleges are also a good place to get that type of info. You will have to get licenses, insurance, bonding, and use a business-zoned location. Your place of business also will have to meet all the federal, state, county and city specifications for safety and access. The pest-control business also requires special qualifications, knowledge and licences. Unless you already have a permit to buy and utilize restricted pesticides, herbicides and fungicides, you will have to attend and pass a state course to get you qualified as an applicator. Check with your county extension office to find out how to apply and when the courses will be offered. The extension agent also might be able to put you in touch with some one already in the business so you could find out what kind of epuipment you will need, where you can get it and what it might cost. I started two businesses and operated them successfully in Pensacola in the 80's and am certified to purchase and use restricted pesticides and herbicides in Idaho. If I could do it, you can too.
