Orkin pest control and pregnancy?

I am 6 weeks pregnant and live in an apartment right now. Once a month Orkin comes and sprays the apartment for bugs and stuff. Is this safe while I am pregnant or should I tell them not to treat my apartment?

  1. As long as you cover everything properly, put up all food, and don't return until the waiting time is over you should be okay. If you want to be extra safe you can wait an extra hour or so to return to your apartment. I would call up to Orkin and ask them what they recomend for pregnant women. Good luck and congrats!
  2. call orkin and ask what they recommend you do but you dont wanna stop treating your apartment because if a roach or rodent problem exist they will all migrate straight to you. That will be their safe zone.
  3. You should be fine, most insecticides are very safe if applied according to the label. Especially synthetic pyrethroids (almost all professional insecticides). Most are not air bore and can only contaminate by touching while wet. Also, the amount applied to your apartment should be a very small amount. When in doubt check the pesticide use statement then go on the net to read the label. (By law, every tenant in a multifamily complex is required to get a use statement) Pest control is regulated by the Pest Board and the Agriculture Dept.
