1. Fill out the invoice as you would normally. Then, include a discount of 100% for donation. Then have the church write a donation receipt for the value of services you provided. You invoice showing work done and discount given, along with the receipt from the church showing service value received should be enough. On your books and records, you would then recognize the income as part of gross receipts, and then take an expense for charitable contribution. (This would be on Schedule A if you are a Schedule C business). You have to make sure that for tax purposes, you recognize income and take the deduction properly.
