- On my chrysanthemums when I get aphids, I go out every day and shoot a hard stream of water on the stems and the very tips of the growing point. When I first saw them I was aghast at how black the stems were! They were crawling with them! After going out and spraying water every day for about a week or so, I didn't see many more, but a little later the ladybugs showed up and I just left it to them. Don't know about white flys unless you're talking about fungus gnats? If so, let the top of the soil dry out between waterings as they need constantly moist soil to breed in. I also top my indoor pots with a 1 inch layer of sand on those plants that need to stay moist constantly, like my nepenthes. The sand drys out quickly, but what's underneath stays moist. Goodluck!
