Do you shop at Petco?

Did you hear that the FDA seized pet food at the PETCO distribution center in Joliet, IL, saying, "We simply will not allow a company to store foods under filthy and unsanitary conditions that occur as a direct result of the company's failure to adequately control and prevent pests in its facility," said Margaret O'K. Glavin, associate commissioner for regulatory affairs. "Consumers expect that such safeguards will be in place not only for human food, but for pet food as well." The distribution center in Joliet, Ill., provides pet food products and supplies to PETCO retail stores in 16 states including Alabama, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, and Wisconsin. 2. no i don't shop there and when i do its never for dog food. they got great dog toys and my puppies love meeting new friends there.
3. We don't use PetCo food in my house except for the live crickets and superworms I buy for my lizard. That's interesting to know that their pet food was seized because of unsanitary conditions. I know that their animals care leave something to be desired (the cages for lizards at the PetCo here are always filthy and littered with up to a week's worth of fecal matter and uneaten food. That's unhealthy for so many lizards in such a small space all producing poop and think living in it). Thanks for posting that. It's good to know and I probably wouldn't have come across that info on my own.
4. I dont buy petfood at Petco, Just pets, such as my rats and birds. I also got a Guinea Pig their. And fish, and nothings wrong with them. Oh, Yeah, I also got multiple cats from their.HOPE THIS HELPS :D
5. My dog died a few days after eating Beneful dog food purchased at Petco. I fed her Sunday and on Monday she started throwing up by Thursday she was dead. A couple of weeks ago my other dog started acting the same way. I took the food away and now he's fine.
6. I do most of my shopping at petsmart or other local pet stores but the one time I buy food at petco this happens. my dog did get sick after having avoderm from petco a week or two ago. luckily so far nothing serious just some antibiotics. we're in indiana so it could've been contaminated food from the Joliet distribution center. I left a message with the FDA and when I spoke to a Petco rep, they said "don't worry about it unless the bag was torn." Wow, very helpful.
