Do bats eat butterflies?
I'm planning on putting a butterfly garden in my backyard, and I was looking at other ways to make my space more wildlife friendly. I was thinking about a bat house, for natural pest control (and I think they are neat), but do they eat butterflies?

- butterflies are out in the daytime, bats come out at night, so I think the butterflies are safe
- I dont think butterflies move at night and that is usually when the bats eat now moths on the other hand might be eaten. I think the main food for the bats usually are mosquitos. Not only to bats consume over 10.000.00 insects in a night there poo is very great fertilizer for the gardens too.
- Since most bats are nocturnal, and butterflies are generally diurnal, there won't be much munching going on. Bats will eat butterflies, yes, but moths would play a much larger part in their diet since they're active at night like the bats. I don't think you need to worry. I'd certainly put up bat houses as they will make a serious dent in your mosquito population.
- only with soy sauce
- I suppose they would if they had the chance, but butterflies don't usually fly around at night and bats don't usually fly around during the day, so there's not much danger of it.
