How to kill cock roaches???

I am a single mom of 4 kids. We bought a house 3 years ago. It is an old house that needs a lot of work. Anyway I have cock roaches and I need to get rid of them. I can not afford to do the pest control. SO I need natural ways to get rid of them for good.???? Please help I had a baby 2 weeks ago with poor health and I don't want them getting sick. Any ideas that will work??? WOW, that oyuall for your great answers. ANd for the one who said to hire the exterminator. I don;t have 50 bucks . PLus the ones around here cost 150 for hte first visit and then 60 for the next 6 months. I hired them for 3 months and they did not do very much. They sprayed a little when they came. It was a rip off. But anyway thanks everyone for your answers

try wd-40. It works. Kills them on the spot. Put it on the frame or your doors, windows, along the base boards, under the sink....anywhere those varmints can crawl in through.
I moved to another place. No roaches. Some places are infested and even pest control doesn't help.
get Boric Acid and run it around all of your base boards, and in the cabinets, under sinks. It is safe for kids, insects hate it.

um, firts of all, DONT use roach poisonings because yound kids are curious and god forbid, they try to eat the poisonigs. There really isnt a way to eliminate them, but it might help looking through the huse for roach nest (there always is), and if you know, in mid-night, roachs comes up, that will be a good time to kill me. Me? i squash every one i see with hands except the biggest ones.
Call an exterminator. We were renting ag house a couple years ago and got them. You can get them from going to the grocery store and bringing an egg home with you. I mean you would be so surprised how you can get them. There are diff types of them. The German roach is the hardest to get rid of. You can go to Home Depot or some place similar and get a high grade home bomb to set off that really works. But, if you want to call an exterminator they can distinguish what type you have. It isn't too much either.
I have found that a thin layer of baking soda where you see them is usually effective. Also, make sure all food is covered and quickly and thoroughly clean up food spills.
boric acid - main ingredient in roachpruf and other powder forms of roach killer - and safe...should be used around exterior of house and under cabinets as well as moist areas with openings - won't take long - but for 10.00 dollars, the powder roachpruf is very effective!!!! - you may see dead roaches the next day.
Try bug bombs. Specifically the Home Control kind with the mutating agent that prevents the young from reaching breeding age. They can be located in the pet section of Wal-Mart. Follow the directions and you should be bug-free in no time.
Boric acid is good. So is Hot Shots roach spray, Raid roach spray, any roach spray. Put red pepper powder around if you don't have boric acid. Also go to your hardware store and ask for potent roach spray and roach bombs to fumigate your house. Just stay away for four hours to let it air out. Also roach traps help with the sticky bottom. They hate that. And sometimes if they come back, you have to continue the treatments again. It is pesky but eventually they will poison each other out by taking the poison back to their tribe. Because you are right, exterminators charge too much for the stuff you can buy yourself. It is a rip off. Be sure to be careful cause of your kids of course.....Let the house air out......For four hours or more. Good luck.
I am serious. Go to a cheap store like a General Dollar store and buy as many glue traps as you can afford. Put them along the walls and near your doors at night and you will be surprised how fast and how many roaches you will catch. Just make sure that your kids know to leave them alone although all you need to get the glue off the kids is mineral oil.
Unfortunately, it won't help until you get this "lot of work" on the house done. Roaches need 3 things to live - water, food, and a place to hide. Start by reserving only one place in the house to eat in ( such as the kitchen) so you don't track food in other rooms. Clean up any spilled food as soon as it happens, and keep stored dry foods closed up. Make sure under the oven and fridge are cleaned regularly of food particles. Boric acid behind and under those appliances helps- boric acid makes little cuts in bug exoskeletons and allows their body moisture to dry up and kill them. Fix any leaks in the house immediately- roaches like to congregate in moist areas. You have to seal every entrance bugs have to get in. If you have any big gaps along baseboards, around bathtub, etc., place steel wool into the gap, blow in some boric acid, and either caulk over it or seal it with duct tape ( the caulk is more attractive and is more permanent. I live in a basement apt and haven't seen a bug in 8 months). Weather stripping around doors and windows not only helps save on energy costs, it keeps them critters from coming in and setting up house. Get those little brush strips for the bottom of your doors. Turn off all the lights and check- if you see light coming through cracks in doors and windows, bugs can get in through them . If you have pets, make sure their areas are well-cleaned regularly ( food bowls, litter box, cages, etc.) Hope some of these tips help.
That really depends on how bad the roaches are, in some cases you can't get rid of all of them. You can try the electronic pest repellents that you sometimes see in the store, that supposedly emitt a signal that drives them away. I don't know if they work but they are cheap. They sell them in Walmart or CVS.
Your not going to like the answer, but for the sake of that baby, pay the $50 and get the pest control out there. Don't harbor paper bags and potatoes, they love that. ALso, behind your refridge, they like it there where it is warm. Please, cut coupons call and tell them your story. A family own shop and just tell them the truth and you nee some help for the sake of the baby. I think you will get some help. If I knew where you where I would help you find someone or I would do it myself.
When you clean your house, wash ALL of your surfaces with Clorox. Kitchen counters, stove, floors, inside of cabinets, baseboards, sink, bathroom surfaces, vanities, medicine cabinets...everything. Bleach is a pesticide, hence all the pesticide registrations on the label.
You don't have $50 bucks??? Well lose the internet service you used to post this question and hire an exterminator. Cockroaches like one thing...filth. The place must be absolutely filthy and disgusting, plus not to be rude but...your single...you have 3 kids...and now you just had a baby??? The only advice I can give you is smarten up!
My friend was INFESTED! This is what she did: Get a flat box (like one 6-packs of coke come in) and cover the bottom with boric acid (in the pharmacy at WalMart). Then drop a candy bar in the center and place it in your cabinet. You may want to do a couple of these. In less than a month her house was ROACH FREE!
A product called Roach Proof, it is basically boric acid. I heard the white House uses it.
Hi, I am sorry i don't have any miracle tips to give u, as I am also struggling to keep them away from my appartement. But, what I feel very sorry about is the stupid answer u got from that even more stupid guy form the real estate....
