  1. insecticides hurt the environment in the long run, as well as leaving a lovely residue on your plants
  2. The chemical pesticides are pollutants. They enter food chain and ultimately reach human body with potential to do great damage . These insecticides do not distinguish between different types of insects and kill them indiscriminately . The insects or pests against whom these are intended gradually become resistant to them and then larger and larger doses are required or New Pesticides are to be formulated . These are dangerous atmospheric pollutant. Biological or natural pest controls are free from these shortcomings. 3. more effective no thats not the term inviermental safe yes some natral ones ar beter some are not when it comes to killing the pest and keeping it from coming back its better not to plute the earth but some times theres no other alternative than poisioning the pest
  4. It is not, necessarily.. This is a popular myth, of recent misinterpretation of of events. Using natural pest control has resulted in ecological disasters around the world. In the U.S. boll weevils control with weevil predators backfired and caused huge chains of damage and loss. In one form or another this has happened on every continent. The real problem with chemical pesticides is their misuse and longevity in the food chains and in runoffs. The real problem is not so much pest control as the intended use of land. It is very difficult to force the land to produce more than it does naturally but doing so is absolutely necessary now. Obviously people will have to find some sort of trade off between what they get from the land and what they will lose in the process but it is simply ignorance to state natural pest control is superior. It is useful and should have a role in the modern world but it is not by itself and answer. It is almost impossible to guess at the consequences of using chemicals for pest control but tampering with the general environment "naturally"is even less predictable.
  5. insectisides not only harm the environment and soil ,but also the other organisms which are helpful. In short insecticides are not pest specific
  6. Anything that kills pest is a pesticide. ANYTHING, If oil kills a pest, it is considered a pesticide. An insecticide is a class of pesticide essentially. And while I hate to admit this, many manufactured insectides are very effective at killing their pest... The downside for many insecticides is that they are toxic to non-target organisms such as humans! Management of pests can be much more effective than using pesticides. Getting rid of a food source for ants or cockroaches can be much more effective, although I wouldn't say it is "natural". Vacuming or wiping up a trail of ants is way more effective than using a spray. Sprays are useless for ants 99% of the time. Anywho, natural pest control isn't more effective than insecticides, it's just less harmful sometimes to non-target pests. All that being said, the only pesticide I use is Advantage for my cats because the alternative is worse. I don't use antibacterial soap (which is a pesticide), Raid, Round-up, or anything. I am VERY anti-pesticide and MUCH prefer managing the pests. Some management methods are contained on this fabulous website from the University of California, Davis. http://ipm.ucdavis.edu
  7. Dido to Miss Vida.. I have been doing pest control for 12yrs and the Label is the Law. Pesticides when applied according to the label ( proper percentage amount, method of application, and where it is applied ) can be safe. Its when you get the monkeys ( Pay peanuts you get Monkeys ) that tend to think the more pesticides the better. They over apply or use high % of the chemical that sometimes makes the infestation worse ( pharaoh ants ) and could cause health risk. Boric acid is one of the best products for roaches with its long time residuel (1yr) and low toxicity, best applied in wall voids. Sealing up cracks and crevices with caulk or foam is another great remedy.Natrual pest control is safer not effective. In the 12yrs doing Pest control I havent hurt a single pet or human :) Thank God :)
